| Description | : | Our Joint Replacement Center offers the latest advances in joint replacement in state-of-the-art hospitals in Chennai, South India. The Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon is Dr. A.K. Venkatachalam. Well qualified anesthetists, therapists, associate surgeons and physicians constitute our staff. Dr Venkatachalam (Venkat for short) completed his higher surgical training in Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery following which he was awarded the MS Orth, DNB Orth and M.Ch Orth from Delhi University, National board of examinations and Liverpool University, respectively. In addition, he was conferred the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in Surgery. He trained in Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Cambridge at centers of excellence for joint replacements. He has further visited centers in the US, Australia, Belgium and Dubai to learn advanced techniques of cartilage restoration, hip resurfacing and joint replacements. He is a life member of the Indian Orthopedic Association and holds permanent registration with the General Medical Council of the UK. He is in the forefront of joint replacement, offering latest techniques and implants. He has published several articles in international journals. He has pioneered several procedures in India. He is well versed with primary and revision joint replacements. He also performs arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder & knee. Autologous cartilage cell implantation, and biological therapy for avascular necrosis are procedures that can prevent a joint replacement and are also available. |
